11th July 1949 - 7th April 2007
Stan and I had known Jac for many years, when he died on the 7th April 2007, after a short illness, to say we were shocked and upset (and still are, is an understatement.
Jac was the type of man, who would do anything for anybody, in his own quiet way. He was a very private man and it was hard to know what he was thinking, he would never let anyone down and his word was his bond, his sense of humour was unique to himself and he shared it with all his friends.
It is very hard to express our feelings at his loss, we had our ups and downs, yet we knew that Jac was always there to give a helping hand.
He had worked tirelessly for the YMCA, since he was seventeen years old, apart from breaks when he went to University and then to work in Africa for a couple of years, he introduced me to broadcasting, first for hospital radio, and then for YMCA Radio Barnsley. Jac persuaded Stan to present the jazz programme too, we had hours of fun and laughter at the radio studio.
Eight years ago, Jac married Sharon and they were very happy together, the sadness is, that their time together wasn't long enough, yet, they were lucky to find each other.
We miss him.
